In Bloons TD 6, it is important to choose the best crosspathing for a specific tower in order to receive the best benefits out of that tower type. Towers have special roles to play for each stage of the game. The Monkey Village in its core is to support towers by buffing them in various ways.

Introduction[]

Crosspathing/Monkey Village (2)

The Monkey Village's main purpose is to provide specific buffs to towers. It does not have any downtime in providing these buffs to Monkeys (excluding abilities), and can quickly become an essential tower in pushing your monkeys usability into higher rounds. It is important to note that all monkeys can receive buffs from the village, and is sometimes the only way a tower can pop specific bloons, this includes camo bloons and magic bloons. A Monkey Village's usefulness is only limited to the range it has, however this can be expanded in a few ways which include: An Engineers 0-4-0 ability, upgrading to at least 1-X-X, upgrading to 5-X-X, upgrading to at least X-X-4, an Engineers 0-5-0 ability, Alch Buff if 5-X-X, another Monkey Village in range, or a Temple's support buffs.

Upgrades[]

Tier 2 and below[]

Base Tower and Tier 1 Crosspaths[]

  • 0-0-0: Can be used in itself just to boost range. Normally, it should be upgraded further to make use of its support benefits.
  • 1-0-0: Expands range of the Village if more coverage is necessary. Though simple at first, it's important for the Monkey Village to cover as many towers as possible so that more towers can have access to it's powerful buffs in higher tiers.
  • 0-1-0: This crosspath itself can be used to block out Regrow properties within range. Usually is a stepping stone for 0-2-0.
  • 0-0-1: Can be used for a discount for nearby towers and their upgrades up to Tier 3.
  • 1-1-0: Expands the coverage of 0-1-0 Village to block out Regrow properties.
  • 1-0-1: Similar to 0-0-1 but with expanded range. Normally is a stepping stone for 2-0-2.
  • 0-1-1: Normally a stepping stone for 0-2-2 Village. It is rarely seen in normal games due to opting for Commerce first if the Path 2+3 crosspathing option for Village is used.

Tier 2 Crosspaths[]

Jungle Drums

Radar Scanner

Monkey Commerce

  • 2-0-0: Useful for just providing the Jungle Drums bonus attack speed benefit as the main incentive.
  • 0-2-0: This crosspath itself can be used purely for granting camo detection.
  • 0-0-2: Used as a way to provide further discount for nearby towers and their upgrades up to Tier 3. Also used with other 0-0-2 to discount each other for their later upgrades.
  • 2-1-0: Often the stepping stone to 2-2-0 Village.
  • 2-0-1: Combines Jungle Drums with capability to do a discount. Basically an intermediate towards 2-0-2.
  • 1-2-0: Normally a stepping stone for 2-2-0 Village.
  • 1-0-2: Similar to 0-0-2 but with expanded range. Normally is a stepping stone for 2-0-2, or could be used to let the Commerce effect cover a greater range.
  • 2-2-0: Combines the effects of Jungle Drums and Radar Scanner. Useful in combination, because both upgrade paths in this crosspathing combination have the sole synergy of being on the same Village. It is flexible in that it can also be upgraded to either Primary Training and above or Monkey Intelligence Bureau while coming with their alternate crosspath benefits.
  • 2-0-2: Combines the effects of Jungle Drums and Monkey Commerce. Useful in combination, because both upgrade paths in this crosspathing combination have the sole synergy of being on the same Village.
  • 0-2-1: Normally a stepping stone for 0-2-2 Village. It is rarely seen in normal games due to opting for Commerce first if the Path 2+3 crosspathing option for Village is used.
  • 0-1-2: Often the stepping stone for 0-2-2 Village.
  • 0-2-2: Combines the effects of Radar Scanner and Monkey Commerce. Useful in combination, because both upgrade paths in this crosspathing combination have the sole synergy of being on the same Village. Often used in combination with nearby Monkey Commerces for the extra discount.

Upper Path 1[]

Primary Training[]

Crosspathing/Monkey Village (9)
  • 3-0-0: Primary Training improves nearby Primary Monkeys by increasing their range, pierce, and projectile speed. Any crosspathing for the Village is to add additional buffs on top, and, like all Village upgrades, there are no special crosspathing benefits for Primary Training by having specific crosspathing. Base the crosspathing choice on what the nearby towers need.
  • 3-1-0: It in itself is only effective to join both 3-0-0 Primary Training and the anti-Regrow effect via Grow Blocker. 3-1-0 otherwise is used as a stepping stone to 3-2-0 Primary Training.
  • 3-2-0: Useful for providing camo detection for nearby towers. As for synergy with the Primary Training effect, Radar Scanner ensures that any towers within range are also affected by Primary Training, if applicable. This is very useful on primary Monkeys because only two primary monkeys can detect camo without support (the X-X-2 Dart Monkey and 4-X-X Ice Monkey) and the rest are too unreliable to catch fast camo bloons.
  • 3-0-1: Useful when pairing with lower-tier towers and upgrades, but as for its combination with Primary Training internally, it isn't very strong due to the fact that most Primary Monkey upgrades below Tier 4 are quite cheap anyway, with exception of some Glue Gunner and some Ice Monkey upgrades.
  • 3-0-2: Same reasoning as 3-0-1, but to a more significant extent, although stacking Commerce discounts is worth using in Commerce neighboring strategies.

Primary Mentoring[]

Crosspathing/Monkey Village (10)
  • 4-0-0: On top of Primary Training, it further improves nearby Primary Monkeys by adding in further increased range, lower ability cooldowns, and free Tier 1 upgrades. Any crosspathing for the Village is to add additional buffs on top, and, like all Village upgrades, there are no special crosspathing benefits for Primary Mentoring by having specific crosspathing. Base the crosspathing choice on what the nearby towers need.
  • 4-1-0: Same principles as 3-1-0 Primary Training.
  • 4-2-0: Useful for providing camo detection for nearby towers. As for synergy with the Primary Mentoring effect, Radar Scanner ensures that any towers within range are also affected by Primary Mentoring, if applicable. This is especially so for abilities, more specifically for MOAB Assassin, Turbo Charge, and Blade Maelstrom, plus their Tier 5 counterparts, all because these abilities cannot affect Camo without support.
  • 4-0-1: In itself, its value is much decreased due to the fact that it already gives free Tier 1 upgrades for nearby Primary Monkeys. However, it can still be used to towers that aren't primary Monkeys.
  • 4-0-2: Same reasoning as 4-0-1, but to a more significant extent, although stacking Commerce discounts is worth using in Commerce neighboring strategies. This could be more true for any expensive Glue Gunner and Ice Monkey upgrades. Again, it can still be used for other towers that aren't primary monkeys.

Primary Expertise[]

Crosspathing/Monkey Village (11)
  • 5-0-0: On top of Primary Training, it further improves nearby Primary Monkeys by adding even more pierce, itself gains more range on top, and it can shoot Mega Ballistas that ricochet across the map. Any crosspathing for the Village is to add additional buffs on top, and, like all Village upgrades, there are no special crosspathing benefits for Primary Expertise by having specific crosspathing. Base the crosspathing choice on what the nearby towers need.
  • 5-1-0: Although Primary Expertise gains a range bonus, the Primary Expertise's own damage amounts to large groups of ordinary bloons means it doesn't need to prevent Regrow properties within its own range. Otherwise, it takes similar principles to 4-1-0 Primary Mentoring.
  • 5-2-0: Similar principles as 4-2-0 Primary Mentoring, except a Primary Expertise gives more pierce too. Note that Primary Expertise does come with extra range, allowing more towers to gain the benefits of Primary Expertise including Radar Scanner's camo detection buff. Primary Expertise's attack already detects camo, so this crosspath isn't necessary for allowing it to hit camo.
  • 5-0-1: In itself, its value is almost zero due to the fact that it already gives free Tier 1 and Tier 2 upgrades for nearby Primary Monkeys. Primary Expertise itself has very slightly more range, however, so that could have a very slight effect for crosspathing value.
  • 5-0-2: In itself, its value is almost zero due to the fact that it already gives free Tier 1 and Tier 2 upgrades for nearby Primary Monkeys. Stacking Commerce discounts is worth using in Commerce neighboring strategies, however. Primary Expertise itself has very slightly more range, however, so that could have a very slight effect for crosspathing value.

Upper Path 2[]

Monkey Intelligence Bureau[]

Crosspathing/Monkey Village (12)
  • 0-3-0: The MIB offers popping of any bloon type including built-in camo detection. The non-crosspathed MIB is normally not used outside of custom challenges, but it does support a quick source of popping of any bloon type.
  • 1-3-0: Extra range coverage is useful for MIB. If there's already coverage of Jungle Drums buff, stopping at 1-3-0 is fine, but otherwise pursue towards 2-3-0.
  • 2-3-0: Combines wider range coverage with providing the Jungle Drums buff. Usually the better crosspath overall, except in multiple Commerce Village strategies.
  • 0-3-1: Provides only a flat +10% discount and tends to be wasteful in itself.
  • 0-3-2: Can be useful when utilizing multiple Commerce Village strategies. The lack of adding extra range coverage can be compensated by a solid bonus discount.

Call To Arms[]

Crosspathing/Monkey Village (13)
  • 0-4-0: Call To Arms offers an ability that temporarily grants bonus attack speed and pierce to all towers on screen. It is quite expensive in itself, even without crosspathing. Normally is paired with other crosspaths to make the most of the Village, but sometimes left just without crosspaths. Crosspathing should be based on the MIB benefit, as the ability's separate buffs affects all towers on screen regardless of crosspaths.
  • 1-4-0: Extra range coverage is useful for Call to Arms. Otherwise similar principles to 1-3-0 MIB.
  • 2-4-0: Combines wider range coverage with providing the Jungle Drums buff. Usually the better crosspath overall, except in multiple Commerce Village strategies.
  • 0-4-1: Provides only a flat +10% discount and tends to be wasteful in itself unless using Super Monkey Strategies.
  • 0-4-2: Can be useful when utilizing multiple Commerce Village strategies. The lack of adding extra range coverage can be compensated by a solid bonus discount for Super Monkey Strategies.

Homeland Defense[]

Crosspathing/Monkey Village (14)
  • 0-5-0: Homeland Defense's ability is not range-dependent because its ability affects all towers on screen no matter where they are. Crosspath a Homeland Defense depending on what is needed for the MIB benefit and the situational steps required to get to MIB.
  • 1-5-0: Because Homeland Defense's ability buff is not locally ranged, crosspathing choice uses the same principles as 1-3-0 MIB.
  • 2-5-0: Because Homeland Defense's ability buff is not locally ranged, crosspathing choice uses the same principles as 2-3-0 MIB.
  • 0-5-1: Because Homeland Defense's ability buff is not locally ranged, crosspathing choice uses the same principles as 0-3-1 MIB.
  • 0-5-2: Because Homeland Defense's ability buff is not locally ranged, crosspathing choice uses the same principles as 0-3-2 MIB.

Upper Path 3[]

Monkey Town[]

Crosspathing/Monkey Village (15)
  • 0-0-3: The purpose of Monkey Town is to allow nearby towers to generate income from popping bloons. The 0-0-3 crosspath is mostly used as a way to quickly get to Monkey Town so that the income generation benefits begin as soon as possible. Choose crosspaths depending on the support needed to optimize its use.
  • 1-0-3: Expands the Village's range to make more use of the income-per-pop benefits.
  • 2-0-3: All towers within range gain extra attack speed, which synergizes well with the income-per-pop benefits. More pops by the towers buffed by Monkey Town buff means more income can be generated from the Monkey Town.
  • 0-1-3: In itself, it is usually not the best crosspath, unless Regrows are major concern.
  • 0-2-3: Gives camo detection within range plus the Monkey Town buff, allowing towers that naturally cannot see camo to affect camo. Another useful synergy with the Monkey Town's income-per-pop benefits.

Monkey City[]

Crosspathing/Monkey Village (16)
  • 0-0-4: This upgrade increases the income generated by most upgrades that have give bonus income by 15%, more influence radius and a free Dart Monkey at the end of each round. If wanting pure income bonus and/or bonus Monkey Town range as soon as possible, this crosspath is worth going for, although the Path 1 upgrades offer even more range too, which might not always be the best choice of crosspathing. However, 0-0-4 City itself can be sort of useful on Deflation Mode when using a Super Monkey Fan Club strategy for maximum Dart Monkeys.
  • 1-0-4: Just like Monkey Town, gains even more range for applying the Monkey Town buff that grants extra income per pop done by all towers within range. For Monkey City, it also expands range at which it can cover Banana Farms, albeit by a slight amount. Similarly, it expands the amount of towers that can be affected by its bonus income buff.
  • 2-0-4: Does not affect specifically to the Monkey City upgrade, but in this case 2-0-4 Monkey City acts as a 2-0-3 Monkey Town with even more influence range.
  • 0-1-4: This crosspath does increase the radius of the Grow Blocker attack, but it is fairly dubious for purely the purpose of blocking Regrows, unless needing to go for 0-2-4 or if Regrows are a serious problem.
  • 0-2-4: It's debatable on whether increasing the radius of the Monkey Town is more worth it then letting the same amount of monkeys pop more bloons with the camo detection.

Monkeyopolis[]

Crosspathing/Monkey Village (17)
  • 0-0-5: Crosspathing for Monkeyopolis is dependent on that for Monkey City. Deciding in preparation to upgrading into Monkeyopolis is more important than giving Monkeyopolis itself a crosspath. The crate-generation portion of Monkeyopolis itself is not affected by crosspathing but crosspathing with Path 1 gives the Monkey City more range so that Monkeyopolis can absorb more Farms upon upgrading. For the purpose of this section, most of the crosspathing choice for Monkeyopolis will discuss crosspathing prior to getting Monkeyopolis, as otherwise most crosspathing choices are based upon that for Monkey City itself.
  • 1-0-5: The most useful crosspath to buy before getting Monkeyopolis itself, as it increases the radius in which it can sacrifice farms.
  • 2-0-5: More helpful with regards to its Monkey Town effects by buffing towers affected by it.
  • 0-1-5: Regrow Bloons are not a problem by the time the player gets to optimize their Monkeyopolis. There is no purpose to buying this specific crosspath unless there is only one Village available and Regrows are a major concern.
  • 0-2-5: It is more optimal to buy a second village elsewhere to grant camo detection, as it gives no benefit to the village itself and sacrifices extra range.

Strategy[]

As the crosspaths don't directly interact with each other (besides 1-X-X which only helps the Village), Village is a very flexible tower that can be tailored to fit any kind of defense. Working with tons of primary monkeys with (generally) cheap upgrades that only a minority can see camo by themselves? Put down a 3-2-0 or higher. Struggling to pop DDTs with relatively slow towers? Buy a 2-3-0 Village. Buying expensive towers or need to compress a ton of banana farms into a village for for DPS and support towers? That is what the X-X-2 and the X-X-5 towers are for respecitvely. This flexibility are why Monkey Villages are so valuable in C.H.I.M.P.S. even if they are on the expensive side: They can be used in almost any way and still be great.
