Mary Katherine McMikle - Branum

Retired Funeral Director

Mary Katherine lived with her family in the upstairs apartment of the funeral home at 201 S. Center until she was 10 years old. Following her graduation from Southeast Missouri State University with a degree in Social Work, she entered into the family business as manager of the former branch location in East Prairie. In 1984 she moved to Charleston and in 2006, her parents passed over to her the torch of leadership.

In February of 2020 she expanded the business with the purchase of the former Blanchard Funeral Home in Sikeston. She contracted COVID in November of 2020 and had to be hospitalized. Since that time her health has seemed to be compromised, and after 45 years as a licensed Funeral Director she made the decision to retire. On January 31, 2024, she and her husband, Bill, completed the transfer and sale of the business to Terry A. Parker.

She and Terry have a bond as close as any family. Over the period of 35 years, they devised their working relationship to meet all the requirements and standards set by her parents.
