Those are some radioactive bees!

byJawad Saeed

Bee Swarm Simulator is a Roblox game that allows players to live their dreams of becoming a beekeeper. There are countless different types of bees available for players to collect. Each bee has unique characteristics that allow you to create a diverse swarm. Moreover, the game has a mechanic called Mutations which lets you make your bees stronger. In this guide, I will show you everything you’ll need to know about the mechanic.

How to Use Any Mutation Guide

This guide will be divided into four sections to help you completely understand the mutation mechanics and its requirements.

Mutations Overview

Mutations are a unique mechanic in this game that buff the stats of certain bees inside a player’s hive. Identifying mutated bees in a hive or out in the game world is very easy. Inside the hive, these bees have a different colored number that indicates their level.

The default color is white, so anything other than that indicates the presence of a mutated bee. Secondly, mutated bees have different colored numbers on their wings as well, allowing you to identify them easily. The color depends on the type of mutation the bee has.

At times bees can become Radioactive. This is indicated by the Nuclear symbol next to the bees, and it is possible for this radiation to spread to the neighboring bees. Feeding Bitterberries to the bees results in a 1 in 1000 chance of the bees acquiring a random mutation.

If the bees are radioactive when the Bitterberries are fed, the chances of acquiring a mutation increase to 1 in 100. Moreover, Royal Jellies, Moon Charms, Star Jellies, Favorite Treats, and Special Treats all can make the bee mutated. Atomic Treats will always guarantee a mutation regardless of the bee’s radiation status.

Mutation Types

There are currently five different mutations in the game, and each one has a different color.

  • Attack Buff with a Red Color and an 18.7% chance.
  • Convert Amount with an Orange Color and an 18.7% chance.
  • Gather Amount with a Green Color and an 18.7% chance.
  • Energy with a Light Blue Color and an 18.7% chance.
  • Bee Ability Rate with a Purple Color and a 1.87% chance.

The highest mutation value that a bee can achieve depends on its current level. For instance, only bees that are above Level 23 can get a 5% Bee Ability Rate Mutation.

Using Mutations Correctly

Mutations are an integral part of progression in the game as they allow your bees to become acclimatized to a certain condition. A mistake that many players make is to assign a random mutation to a bee without thinking about its consequences. Just as bees have their favorite foods, they can also have favorite mutations.

For example, the Attack Mutation is perfectly suited to the Vicious Bee due to its aggressive nature. Similarly, the Convert Amount Mutation suits the Buoyant Bee as it helps to increase its production output. Due to the countless mutation combinations that are possible, it is not feasible to list all of them in this guide.

Our advice is to focus on what mutation complements each type of bee. Festive Bees are an exemption since we recommend always using the Bee Ability Rate Mutations on them to increase their output.

If you wish to have a hive full of mutated bees, then the best course of action is to choose bees that will remain in your hive for a long time. Using Royal Jelly on mutated bees is a waste of resources since you will end up losing the mutation on that bee.

It is important to exercise caution when making Gifted Bees. Make sure that they are not radioactive since making them Gifted during this phase will result in them losing the mutation. Hence wait until the Radioactivity phase ends.

It is important to equip the Bquips that your bees might have been wearing before they were mutated. The process of mutation removes the Bquips from the bees, so make sure to revisit the Catalog to reassign the Bquip to the correct bee.

Mutation Materials

The two most important materials for Mutations are Neonberries and Bitterberries. According to veteran players, the best method is to do Puff Shroom runs since these shrooms drop the required materials for mutations.

Another popular method is to harvest the Planters. Focus more on the Pesticide Planters since it drops both berries. A good strategy is to plant it in the Spider Field but move it to the Bamboo and Strawberry Fields as well.

Mondo Chicks and Coconut Crabs drop both treats as well, making them good targets for farming these resources. Lastly, the Robo Bear Challenge is also a viable option for obtaining these treats by completing Robo Bear’s quests.
